Ohio Proficiency Outcomes
The State of Ohio published Proficiency Standards to guide a child's education from Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade. Students are tested on these standards in the 4th, 6th and 9th grades. For an overview of these standards, and sample tests visit the Ohio Department of Education website.
The state is currently in transition from Proficiency Standards to Academic Content Standards. Members of the classes of 2005 and 2006 will be responsible for passing current graduation tests, the 9th grade proficiency tests in all five areas and meeting curriculum requirements to earn an Ohio diploma. By 2007, the transition will be complete and the new Academic Content Standards in place.

The State Board of Education has published new Academic Content Standards for Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Arts, Foreign Language and Technology. Those for Library are in draft form. These standards are available online.
