A stepwise series of whole and half steps arranged: whole, half, whole, whole, whole, half, whole. This creates minor intervals at the third, sixth, and seventh steps of the scale.
There are three kinds of minor scales -- the one above is natural minor. Harmonic minor has a raised seventh step. Melodic minor has a raised sixth and seventh step going up the scale, but returns to natural minor going down.
